Profile

A ceramic artist who inherits the Hagi Ware's tradition (to the current generation).
He studied under his father “Shogetsu” when he was 15 years old, learning his father’s technique while chores such as cleaning up the workplace.
After long training period in making the basic clay, he has acquired his mature skill.
He established his kiln at Sanmi in 1975.
With his natural craftsmanship spirit and a hard worker, his determination in making sophisticated ceramics is solid.
Meticulously handling the clay, his hands manipulate the clay to complete his ceramics that naturally gives one a peaceful feeling.
He is selected many times as one of the representing artists at Japan Traditional Art Crafts exhibition.
Many appreciate his "BENIHAGI", for its soft and elegant shades of clay and his delicate use of colors.
His favorite word is "YUME (dream)".
