Profile

Mr. KUMAMOTO was born in Kashima-shi, Saga prefecture, learned ceramics's foundation in Aichi prefectural Seto pottery college.
He returned home and established his kiln since he had trained for 7 seven years in Kyoto by KIMURA, Morikazu who was the leading expert for Tenmoku.
At first, he made various kinds of Tenmoku, including "Nogime" or "Yuteki" with the glaze of smashed rockes in Mt.Tara-dake.
During training period, he shifted to celadon making with attracted to Chinese Song Yoshuyo kiln's celadon. Seeking for profound green color, he repeated trial and error for many years.
By the Haritsuke pasted pattern, Katakiribori engraved from the outside, flower patterns come to the surface like solid. Shining color can be felt with uprifting pattern by engraving, pasting technique.
25 times selected for the Japan Traditional Kogei exhibition, selected a lot for Western Japanese Ceramics Exhibition, the Exhibition of Traditional Kogei of SEIBU Area in Japan.
He makes modern celadon by excellent technique and great sensibility.
