ARAKAWA was born in Shinjo-shi, Yamagata prefecrure.
He was attractive with Shigaraki ware, moved to Shigaraki-cho and worked at pottery factory.
Then, he studied under OTANI, Shiro who is the master of Shigaraki high-fired pottery.
Having been selected for Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition, Kinki, and the artwork was recognized gradually.
He became independent and built his own kiln in 2001. Solo exhibition is held on each place, including the Sogo Yokohama.
Just at a glance, you know what it's like yakishime pottery with good burnt. Based on tradition of high-fired pottery, he is going to try producing new design.
Developing the Shigaraki tradition, he puts modern sense to his artworks.
