Yokoyu Mizusashi (陽向釉水指)
This is the Kyoto ware crafted by TAKEMURA, Shgieo (竹村繁男).
He made the shape by throwing on the potter's wheel and made hexagonal bottom.
It is mizusashi container for fresh-water in Japanese tea ceremony.
A unique glaze is used as decoration, its ingredients contain ash of sunflower which he grew.
And it has turned to yellow color with painstaking work because it is required for exquisite temperature control.
Height : 18 cm
Width : 18 cm
He burns various plants and picks up as glaze to bring out quality of ash. It’s interesting that color varies depending on settings or temperature, even though same glaze is used.
