Sotenyu Tokkuri (蒼天釉花生)
This is the Kyoto ware crafted by TAKEMURA, Shigeo (竹村繁男).
Sotenyu is the glaze made from the ash of loquat which he grew.
The form is gourd-shape called hyotan.
Height : 18.5 cm
Width : 9 cm
He burns various plants and picks up as glaze to bring out quality of ash. It’s interesting that color varies depending on settings or temperature, even though same glaze is used.
