Madragatsu Sakenomi (斑唐津酒呑)
This is the Karatsu ware crafted by YASUNAGA, Raizan (安永頼山).
He made the shaped by throwing the potter's wheel and the cup was fired in the climbing kiln.
The white straw ash glaze is used to make milky white color in this kind of ceramic.
We call it "madara" because blue and black spots are appeared due to melting the iron and the pine ashes when it's baked.
