Yokoyu Sakazuki (陽向釉盃)
This is the Kyoto ware crafted by TAKEMURA, Shigeo (竹村繁男).
Yokoyu is the glaze made from the ash of sunflowers which he grew.
Ingredients including ash served as decoration, the yellow color comes out naturally.
Height : 5.5 cm
Width : 7.5 cm
He burns various plants and picks up as glaze to bring out quality of ash. It’s interesting that color varies depending on settings or temperature, even though same glaze is used.
