Ceramic Feature

Seiji Chawan (青瓷茶碗)

This is a Celadon tea bowl which Kumamoto-san has created.
He made the shape by throwing on the potter's wheel.
The material is kaolin china clay called todo.
Celadon glaze is poured and it is baked with reduction flame.
There are cracked patterns generated by shrinkage.

Having trained in Kyoto, he went back to his hometown and opened the pottery in Kashima-shi, Saga prefecture. He found enlightened charm to Chinese Seiji and devotes himself to create original celadon today.
