Ryozan Kiln is the place of ten minutes‘ walk from the bus stop of Wakaki Japan Agricultural Cooperatives or fifteen minutes’ drive from the Takeoonsen station, JR Sasebo Line. Ryozan Kiln was opened at Takeo-shi, Saga prefecture in 1991. This is a quiet village in the mountains with rich nature. MATSUO, Shigetoshi and his-son Jun manage the kiln. MATUO, Shigetoshi pursues the beauty of white porcelain with pale blue glaze mainly on the porcelain, and Jun expresses the original view of the world by a flexible idea mainly on the pottery such as Kohiki, Chosenkaratsu, Aogaratsu, and Enyu. There are each studio and kiln in the same place, the ceramics are different form each other. The mountains and ponds are seen from the exhibition room and ceramics are displayed. They provide the harmonized space with respect their personality. Kamabiraki-ten exhibition is held in June every year. Please have a look at it.

He studeid under IWABUCHI, Shigeya in Kyoto, and uses many styles, such as salt glaze, biscuit, chosen karatsu etc. He makes great effot to make pottery which changes its tone delicately depending on the condition of the kiln.
