Profile

Shiko Kiln is the place of five minutes' walk from the Arita Station, JR Sasebo Line. It is located along the main street of annual Arita pottery festival, and is easy to find the place by the signboard written "gallery Shiko". Lots of vessels are exhibited with the landscape pictures. They have widely porcelains such as large decorative jars, vases, large plates, cup & saucers, a pair of Japanese Hina dolls, the zodiac sign's incense burners and cinerary urns. All are painted by hand with sometsuke or somenishiki. Please have a look one by one with holding. We possibly sense the tradition of Arita Ware from the warm antique sometsuke and vivid somenishiki. Japanese ancient profundity may be felt.
