Hirakoshodanuemon Kiln is located ten minutes' drive toward the direction of Sasebo from the Sasebomikawachi interchange of Nishi Kyushu expressway. It is also fifteen minutes' drive from the Haiki station, JR Sasebo Line. There is Tenmangu shrine which is the deity of Mikawachisarayama district near the kiln. The kiln was established in Kanei period and has been succeeded for generations. Amakusa pottery stones are used since it was opened, and makes porcelain of sometsuke which is painted by the indigo color on white porcelain. They use the craftwork of the chrysanthemum flower decoration that is carried on throughout generations, and makes beautiful ceramics such as daily porcelain ware. The peony and arabesque design with the traditional picture, delicately painted, gives us rich, warm impression in the modern life. Artworks are displayed such as graceful and favorable porcelain with sometsuke or craftwork, and please have a look at them. Seeing the future, they pursue porcelain ware with the thinness of Mikawachi ware or the traditional skill.
